Flavour Profile

At £18, this kukicha is definitely pricey for what it is. For those who've never tried it before, I would describe it as a "sencha-lite" with more sweetness. As with the other teas in Ocha's lineup, it arrives vacuum-sealed for maximum freshness, which is a sign of quality.

Brewing it at the recommended 80C for 30 seconds, the theme here is 'light and clean' in both taste and visual, a real contrast to the fukamushi. It has a light umami with no bitterness, clear notes of sweetness, and a very clean finish. You could brew it for longer to get some bitterness, but that's not what this tea is meant for. It's also very low in caffeine since it's made from stems and twigs, making it a great, healthy option for any time of day.

My only main problem is the pricing. £18 is quite a lot for this tea. It's good, but I don't think it's £18 good. For that reason, I'm giving it 4 stars.
