Steeped on 18 April 2025

Overhead close-up of the dry Chocolate Vanilla tisane blend in a clear jar. The mix consists primarily of fine, reddish-brown Rooibos needles interspersed with darker, coarser fragments likely from cocoa husks or nibs. The Vahdam packaging is placed above the jar.

Next up is the Chocolate Vanilla Herbal Tea Tisane. This one is caffeine-free.

Right off the bat, the smell is very strong, both from the dry mix and when brewed. You definitely get that cocoa or chocolatey aroma hitting you with noticable vanilla too, unlike the chai before. It seems to be mostly Rooibos mixed with cocoa pieces and vanilla flavouring. The bits are quite small and fine, so be warned, some might slip through certain types of strainers.

The taste was actually not bad. I can see how this would appeal to certain people. The chocolate flavour is definitely there, but maybe not like eating a chocolate bar. It's more of an earthy, roasted cacao kind of note, mixed with the naturally slightly sweet, woody flavour of the Rooibos base. It tastes sweet, but in a different way than just sugary sweetness, likely helped by the vanilla which adds a smooth background note.

This sweetness, combined with the chocolate, lingers in the aftertaste, again, it's a distinct kind of sweetness. While it's not really my type of tea, I get the appeal. It's a comforting, dessert-like brew that would probably be nice in the evening, especially since it won't keep you awake.

Overall, it's decent if you like this sort of sweet, dessert-style herbal infusion.
