How I Brewed It
85C for 4 mins, both infusions.
Alright, moving onto Day 7 of the Vahdam 10 Black Tea Sampler, and today we hit a familiar name: English Breakfast. Given it's such a staple, I was interested to see Vahdam's take.
_______
I even decided to use my new Phox Wave 2 water filter with the softener cartridge for this one (more on that in a seperate post), really wanting to give it a fair chance and clear conditions.
Honestly, from the get-go, both the dry leaf smell and the aroma from the brewed tea were... well, just basic black tea. Nothing distinctive, nothing offensive, just very straightforward and not particularly inviting.
And the taste? It pretty much matched the smell. It delivered that expected black tea bitterness, but beyond that, there wasn't much else going on. I kept sipping, waiting for some character or nuance to emerge, but it remained resolutely plain.
It wasn't bad tea by any means. It didn't have off-flavours or excessive bitterness. It was just... remarkably unremarkable. It felt very much like a functional, generic black tea. After the pleasant previous 2, this is just very one-note, like that crushed one.
For me, it's drinkable, sure, but completely forgettable. If you just need a basic caffeine hit with no frills, it does the job. But if you're looking for something different, this ain't it.
