Vahdam Vanilla Spiced Chai

chai 2

Steeped on 16 April 2025

Top-down close-up of the dry Vanilla Chai blend in a clear jar. Small, dark brown CTC tea granules are mixed with visible pieces of lighter spices (like cardamom pods or ginger). The green Vahdam Vanilla Chai packet lies next to the jar on a textured, woven placemat.

How I Brewed It

90C for 3 mins.

Opening the packet, the fragrance hits you immediately, it's strong. But straight away, I noticed there was barely any vanilla scent.

Brewed up, the taste unfortunately follows the smell. You get a big hit of chai spices, no doubt about that, but the vanilla is pretty much non-existent. Underneath the spices, it's basically that generic, slightly bitter Assam CTC black tea flavour.

So, the experience is like... strong chai spice aroma slapped onto standard CTC bitterness. The "vanilla" part of the name feels completely lost here. It's just an overwhelmingly spice-forward chai with a basic tea base. Highly disappointed with this.
