80C+ for 3 mins, 90C for second.
___________
First off, when you open the bag, there's a really pleasant fragrance, I definitely picked up on floral and maybe slightly fruity notes, which was lovely. When brewed, it has a beautiful, clear amber-red colour in the cup.
The taste follows the aroma; it's got a noticeable floral character. It's undeniably a black tea, but it tastes quite different from your standard English Breakfast or Indian blends. It feels a bit smoother and less sharp, maybe? It's interesting to know it comes from Uji, Kyoto, which is more famous for green tea, so this feels like a bit of a unique find.
I played around with brewing. My first infusion was around 80-85C for about 3 minutes, and the second I pushed closer to 90C for a similar time. The leaves are good quality and easily stood up to three infusions, which is great. Just a heads-up, be careful not to brew it for too long, as it might get a bit too strong or bitter.
Overall, it's a really enjoyable and unique black tea experience. I managed to get it on sale for £10 for 50g, which already felt a bit pricey for the amount. Seeing the normal price is near £16 makes it something I'd consider more of an occasional treat rather than a daily drinker.
I would recommends it on sale for a different black tea experience, but for full price, you might be better off with another brand.
