Flavour Profile

How I Brewed It

Boiling for 3-5mins as recommended.

While over at a friend's house, I figured I might as well get the daily British standard out of the way. You've seen it everywhere. It's that bright red box of Yorkshire Tea, a permanent resident in the majority of British kitchen cabinets.

There isn't a whole lot to say. The teabag delivers a direct hit of uncompromising malt, the classic signature of a CTC Assam blend. Thereโ€™s a distinct bitterness that rides alongside the strong, clean malt flavour. Most people would soften this intensity with a splash of milk, which is almost certainly the intention behind the blend. I drink it straight.

Taken black, the brew is exactly what you'd expect from the nation's favourite. The aroma, the taste, the price point, itโ€™s all perfectly predictable. For me, this is a firm two-star tea. It gets the job done if you need a powerful, malty caffeine fix, but there is nothing else here to write home about. It's a tea I'll drink when it's offered, but it has never once found its way into my own shopping basket.
