My Experience

So, Tesco was having a sale on this Kitchen Joy Thai Cube lineup, and I thought, why not? The whole cube design is a nice gimmick. It looks convenient, yet somehow the box isn't recyclable.

The instructions have you microwave it halfway, then take out the scalding hot top box with the sauce and chicken to stir it. It's a bloody pain. You genuinely need oven mitts or a thick kitchen towel to handle it without burning yourself, which makes the whole process awkward.

Now for the meal itself. The rice is actually decent, proper jasmine rice, which makes sense since the whole thing is made in Thailand. The chicken is also fine, the quality seems acceptable as long as you don't think too hard about how it's made.

The problem is the taste. As I later found out with the rest of the lineup, this thing is just extremely sweet. It's so sweet that it's the first and only thing you really notice. Any actual Panang curry flavour is completely buried under the sugary taste. I absolutely hate it. It completely ruins what could have been a decent and promising line of ready meals.

A quick look at the nutritional info tells the story. The 350g pack has 13g of sugar and a whopping 12g of saturated fat. No wonder it tastes like that.

It's a shame, but the flavour balance is just all wrong.
